Yongsun Lim, Ph.D.
Dr. Lim is an experienced Korean language educator with over two decades of teaching experience in English and Korean language instruction across diverse educational settings.
- Began her teaching career in 2000 as an English instructor at BCM Geos Korea English Institute in South Korea, later teaching at various higher education institutions from 2000–2006.
- Transitioned her focus to Korean language education while completing her M.A. in TESOL and Education Specialist degree in English Education at the University of Missouri–Columbia (2007–2013).
- Served as a Korean language and cultural diversity instructor while pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at Saint Louis University.
- Since 2020, has provided Korean language instruction for U.S. Special Forces, and currently she is a certified OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) tester.
- Specializes in Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) education, with research and instructional expertise in:
- Proficiency-based Korean language instruction in traditional, hybrid, and online learning environments
- Strategic and theory-informed language pedagogy
- Sociolinguistic and intercultural approaches to language learning
- Technology-enhanced language education
- Second language acquisition of Korean and English
- Innovative curriculum development, lesson design, and modern instructional methodologies
